The Adventures We Have...

Why can't weekends last longer? Good news though - Tomorrow is Friday! This weekend will go by way too fast as Derek and I are taking a weekend getaway to visit the Power family. We are so excited. All of his family will be there for the first time in a little over a year. We can't wait.

So this last weekend was fun. I had a chance to decorate our house. We don't have much room to decorate a lot but a few things go a long way in our lovely spider basement apartment. Good news is the spider only add to our decor...ha

Later Saturday afternoon our friends Jackie and Par stopped by with their cute little baby Henrik. It was fun to see them and to see how much Henrik has already grown in his first month of life. Such a cute family. Later we joined my parents and Nathan for a nice dinner. It was fun to get to spend a little bit of time with them in Provo. That night we enjoyed the Pumpkin Patch. It was such a cute place. We plan to go back to do they straw maze there. So many fun activities for free. We had a blast. If you are in Provo you should go check out the Provo Corn Maze and pumpkin patch. We loved it.

haha I love this picture

Love the lighting on this picture. Excited for the Straw Mze.

Sunday we enjoyed a nice drive in the fall weather and came home and made some caramel apples. I think it's been a while since I have eaten a caramel apple because I forgot just how messy you can get..ha Good news...we didn't burn the caramel and had a really fun time making them together.

We felt that popsicle sticks just wouldn't cut it...
He is the master coater of apples

Honestly...they are so good. We currently have two left. Can't wait for dessert tonight. The one apple on the front of the tray that doesn't look as good was the only one I did. ha I just don't have the skill to gracefully and evenly coat the apple in caramel. Maybe next year. Derek called it our scary apple.

So happy it's fall and that we get to enjoy doing so many fun things. Can't wait for this weekend!

It's a good reminder to not only seek Him this time of year but thr

Tot School: Week 1

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to some of my friends about starting some kind of regular class where we can get our kids together once a week to learn and play. As an added bonus, we all get to chat as well. That night I started researching different activities that are good for kids ages 18 months-3 years. I put together an 8 week schedule that will include different themes each week so that our children can be exposed to many different things. I couldn't wait to get started. I e-mailed my friends my ideas/schedule and once I knew who could participate I went shopping to pick up supplies. Everything I have needed so far I found at the Dollar Tree and Micheal's. Today was our first class and it was a lot of fun. Our theme this week was animals. As everyone arrived I let them pick out a folder and decorate it. I also took a picture with the kids and their moms. We started by reading a couple of animal books I had on hand. The kids loved them because they were flap books a

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5
