The Tale of Two Brains

So last night while trying to fall asleep my mind was racing with things I needed to do at work and stress about getting everything done for my first conference. I just couldn't shut my mind up and relax so I could get the rest I need to survive this week.

In an attempt to get my mind thinking about something more relaxing I turned to Derek and simply asked, "What are you thinking about?" His response...


That's right. He was thinking about the opening scene from Dumb and Dumber. I couldn't help but laugh. I wish I could shut my brain off at night and think of simple and funny things.

I guess the saying is true. Men's minds just work on a much simpler plane sometimes. Jealous. I need to find myself a "nothing" box.

    I wish I could watch the video, but I'm work and the computers here block videos. Anyway, I know what you mean about not being able to shut off your brain. It sucks. P.S. Let's hang out soon! I'm pretty sure my phone deleted your number again :\ so I'll have to have Rex text Derek sometime.

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 ...

Owen at 6 months

  This is my little Owen and he is the most handsome little boy ever. He brings so much joy to our lives. He is an excellent napper, happy 98% of the time, and a great little brother. He laughs at every thing Brooklyn does and is so patient as she pulls and pokes him while they try and play. Here is a glimpse of Owen James at 6 months old: He sits up and loves to play with anything put in front of him He drools like nothing I've ever seen before Can roll from front to back and back to front but mostly rolls from back to tummy Loves tummy time Is obsessed with Brooklyn and Peek a boo Isn't the best night time sleeper but he is getting better every day. He gave me 6 hrs last night...to bad it was from 6 pm to 12 am instead of 12 am to 6 am. Once he's in a deep sleep he does great but just has a hard time getting to sleep at first Smiles at everyone so he can show off his dimples Blabs mama everyday all day but I don't think he has connected it yet...
