So I've been getting a little frustrated recently. I want to be able to cook so badly but I just don't know how to. I can cook simple things but I am tired of that. I am currently in love with the Food Network Channel and I think I should be on that worst cook's in America show so i could learn how. Anyways, I am trying to compile different recipes that I can cook for me a Derek. I want to start making a weekly menu and buying only the food we need for that week. I hate when things sit in the pantry for months and I have no idea what to do with that can of whatever. I also want to learn to cook healthy with this new adventure of mine. I don't have any children yet but I feel it's important to start before we add an addition. I want my children to grow up loving healthy food.

Ok so long story short I guess -- If you have any healthy recipe ideas I would love them. Post them here. Email them to me: Anything. I know many of you out there are so much better than me. I try looking online at blogs but I haven't tried any of those recipes so who knows how they'll taste. So anything you love please send them my way.

Hope everyone's new year is going wonderfully!

  1. Laura! I feel the same way... this is one of my goals this year too. I tried my first new recipe last night and it was a success... and super easy! I'll email you a couple that we like and hopefully they fall in that healthy category. :)

  2. Thank you! I would just love that. It really frustrates me that I just have no idea what to do sometimes. I think cereal all the time is the best idea ever! ha

So the past couple of days I have really been thinking about how I can reflect the true meaning of Christmas in my home. We live in a small two bedroom apartment and there isn't much room to decorate. This morning I was watching the video Wise Men Still Seek Himand felt inspired to create a printable for my home. Hazel's Birth Story

Warning: This is long and is written in detail as it's meant to be my record of her birth.
Well it's been a long time since I've blogged. Life gets busy and it's hard to keep up. However, I found myself wanting to record the details of Hazel's birth story. She's already 4.5 months old and I am finding that I am starting to forget small things. I want to write them all down before I forget. So here I am, sharing our story, so that I can remember and share it with her someday.

Hazel Anne Power joined our family on September 3, 2017 at 8:40 pm weighing 7 lbs 5 oz and 19.5 inches long. She is my smallest baby. She's 6 oz less than Brooklyn and 1 inch shorter. She is just darling and we are so glad she's a part of our family.
So I guess I'll start at the beginning. I found out I was pregnant right after Christmas time and was able to share the news with my family that was in town for the holidays. We return home from our trip and I start back up playin…

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story.
I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of not too long after our sweet girl is born.
A little about us:
Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 years. We are tr…
