Our 1st Anniversary

So yesterday we celebrated our 1st anniversary. We also celebrated it a little bit on Saturday.

Saturday:
-Derek bought me a dozen red roses.
-I got him some cool looking cuff-links.
-Dinner at Olive Garden. My favorite restaurant.
-My friend Na's Hawaiian wedding reception.
-Nickel City. This is where we kind of had our first date. It was so much fun.
-Finished it off by watching The Princess and the Frog in bed.

Sunday:
-My dad made a fabulously delicious dinner. Steak. Potato Soup. Green Salad. Amazing bread.
-We all played a couple grueling rounds of Disney SceneIt and Just Dance 2.
-We thawed the top of our wedding cake and ate it. Actually it was so delicious. It kept really well. Cling wrap is the best. Everyone was shocked at how good it tasted.

This past year has been wonderful. I have experienced more joy than ever before. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful man in my life who loves me for who I am. Plus he's patient and for me that's such a blessing. Hope you enjoy the pictures below.

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 ...

Tot School: Week 1

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to some of my friends about starting some kind of regular class where we can get our kids together once a week to learn and play. As an added bonus, we all get to chat as well. That night I started researching different activities that are good for kids ages 18 months-3 years. I put together an 8 week schedule that will include different themes each week so that our children can be exposed to many different things. I couldn't wait to get started. I e-mailed my friends my ideas/schedule and once I knew who could participate I went shopping to pick up supplies. Everything I have needed so far I found at the Dollar Tree and Micheal's. Today was our first class and it was a lot of fun. Our theme this week was animals. As everyone arrived I let them pick out a folder and decorate it.
