Road Trip to Rexburg

Oh Rexburg. You will always be a part of me; my home away from home. I loved attending college at BYU-Idaho and had so much fun with friends and school activities. I loved my professors in the Communications Department. I even had pretty great classmates most of the time. That's why I am so excited that Jamie and Samantha are at BYU-I right now. Since summer was always my favorite semester, Derek and I couldn't resist the urge to road trip it up there to spend some time with our sisters and our lovely friends Robyn and Luke.

Here are the highlights:
  • Seeing the new iCenter
  • Sleeping over at Robyn's apartment. Her and Luke are such cute newly weds. I loved it. They took such good care of us.
  • Seeing Jamie and Samantha
  • The Sand Bar...even though it was freezing
  • Playing on the trains and playing games Sunday while it rained
  • Snoasis
  • The Sand Dunes
  • Sunday Dinner...we all pitched in and made a great feast of chicken enchiladas with salad and these delicious cupcakes for dessert.
Sadly, I don't have pictures of all of these events but trust me...we had a grand ol' time. See for yourself.

  1. What a fun trip! I've never been to Idaho before, but this makes me want to go. And it also makes me want shaved ice. :)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your holiday season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So the past couple of days I have really been thinking about how I can reflect the true meaning of Christmas in my home. We live in a small two bedroom apartment and there isn't much room to decorate. This morning I was watching the video Wise Men Still Seek Him   and felt inspired to create a printable for my home. It's a good reminder to not only seek Him this time of year but thr...

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 ...

Tot School: Week 1

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to some of my friends about starting some kind of regular class where we can get our kids together once a week to learn and play. As an added bonus, we all get to chat as well. That night I started researching different activities that are good for kids ages 18 months-3 years. I put together an 8 week schedule that will include different themes each week so that our children can be exposed to many different things. I couldn't wait to get started. I e-mailed my friends my ideas/schedule and once I knew who could participate I went shopping to pick up supplies. Everything I have needed so far I found at the Dollar Tree and Micheal's. Today was our first class and it was a lot of fun. Our theme this week was animals. As everyone arrived I let them pick out a folder and decorate it. I also took a picture with the kids and their moms. We started by reading a couple of animal books I had on hand. The kids loved them because they were flap books a...
