Samantha's Visit

So General Conference weekend (the end of March I think) we had a visitor. We love this visitor so much and it was such a blast to have her here. Seriously. Just talking and having adventures together was great. Derek's sister Samantha came to visit. She's currently going to school in Rexburg, I know...be jealous, and she got a ride down for the weekend.

Fun adventures:
  • Talking late in to the night
  • J Dawg's
  • Bridal Vail Falls
  • Dinner with the Fam
So for those who don't know J Dawg's is a great hot dog restaurant in Provo. Maybe some of you think great and hot dog are oxymoron's but not in this situation.  It was started by some BYU students as their senior project and now they've grown and have two store fronts. The sauce they use is out of this world. So we started with lunch here and headed out to the falls. It has to be one of my favorite spots in Provo. Derek and I went hiking there last summer. Anyways I'll stop talking about it I'll just share some of the fun pictures.

Best friends. Reunited.
The water was freezing. You can see snow in the next picture.
Samantha is a model. Ridiculous. Look at the snow! Dumb.
Ha I couldn't resist. Just so cute. Samantha looks like she might die.
On the bridge. I love water. It's my favorite part of nature.
I made them play limbo on their way out. Samantha won. Naturally.

We loved having Samantha here and can't wait to go visit her in a couple weeks. We have to show her all the fun things to do in Rexburg. Idaho summers are just magical.

  1. Laura you look so good in that pic of you guys on the bridge. I'm not even kidding, you look like you've lost even more weight since the wedding.

It's a good reminder to not only seek Him this time of year but thr...

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 ...

Tot School: Week 1

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to some of my friends about starting some kind of regular class where we can get our kids together once a week to learn and play. As an added bonus, we all get to chat as well. That night I started researching different activities that are good for kids ages 18 months-3 years. I put together an 8 week schedule that will include different themes each week so that our children can be exposed to many different things. I couldn't wait to get started. I e-mailed my friends my ideas/schedule and once I knew who could participate I went shopping to pick up supplies. Everything I have needed so far I found at the Dollar Tree and Micheal's. Today was our first class and it was a lot of fun. Our theme this week was animals. As everyone arrived I let them pick out a folder and decorate it. I also took a picture with the kids and their moms. We started by reading a couple of animal books I had on hand. The kids loved them because they were flap books a...
