Day 1: The Shred

A couple of posts back I talked about how I was going to start the 30 day shred challenge as soon as I got the DVD.  Well lucky me, it came yesterday after work so I decided today would be my first day.  My goal is to do it every morning before work so i can be inspired to eat better all day.  Also, I am hoping it'll help me have more energy in the morning so work doesn't seem to drag on.

So here is how I would describe the first day:
  • Successful
  • Exhausting
  • Hard
It took me forever to cool down..the cold shower didn't help that much.  I was sweating buckets.  It was hard and sad to say I am only on level one. BUT I DID IT!

Question: Those of you who have done the shred, what have you found to be most successful? I am planning on doing each level for ten days.  Am I supposed to do all three levels everyday?  I am still trying to figure it out so any tips and suggestions you can offer I would appreciate it.

Hope tomorrow morning goes just as well and that I am not quite as worn out afterwords. (I could barely keep my arms up to wash my hair....ha)

On my way to success

  2. That sounds like a good plan. I have a friend doing it right now and she said doing level one for 10 days was best. I've done it but I didn't do it until I had been doing Jillian Michaels online workouts so I can't really say. By the time I began doing the shred I had to do a level twice a day in order to equal the workouts I was already doing. So good for you. Tomorrow you probably will be feeling it but I want to encourage you to keep it up and I know you will. You are in pretty good shape and sore muscles isn't going to be new to you.

    You go girl.

  3. Thanks for your support guys. I appreciate it. Momma Smith...I needed your words of wisdom. This morning I was so sore but I had to get out of bed to do it.I didn't think I was capable of doing anymore pushups but somehow managed. Thanks for your wise advice.

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 ...

Tot School: Week 1

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to some of my friends about starting some kind of regular class where we can get our kids together once a week to learn and play. As an added bonus, we all get to chat as well. That night I started researching different activities that are good for kids ages 18 months-3 years. I put together an 8 week schedule that will include different themes each week so that our children can be exposed to many different things. I couldn't wait to get started. I e-mailed my friends my ideas/schedule and once I knew who could participate I went shopping to pick up supplies. Everything I have needed so far I found at the Dollar Tree and Micheal's. Today was our first class and it was a lot of fun. Our theme this week was animals. As everyone arrived I let them pick out a folder and decorate it. I also took a picture with the kids and their moms. We started by reading a couple of animal books I had on hand. The kids loved them because they were flap books a...
