Baby Update: 28.5 weeks

Ok so there are a lot more pictures of the baby bump in this blog post. I had Derek take a lot to make sure I wouldn't look ugly or gross. What pregnant woman wants to look that way in a picture? Anyways there were a few cute ones I thought I would share.

I am currently sitting at my 3 hr glucose test, waiting for my last blood draw. This experience has been oh so lovely. I am excited to be done and put some protein in my body. I am starting to feel a little crazy and restless through this process.

Ok on to the update:

Aren't you loving our glitter ghost behind me? ha
Close up. Just so you could all know how big she is growing.
Didn't he do such a good job? Thanks Derek!

How Far Along: 28 weeks, 5 days. The pictures were taken at 28 weeks, 3 days.
Size of the Baby: 2.25 pounds - the size of a Chinese cabbage...interesting
Weight gain/loss: Up 9 pounds currently from my pre-pregnancy weight. However, I was reading about how in the next 11/12 weeks I should put on about 11 pounds. Not looking forward to that. My goal is to not put on any extra with the holidays. We will just see how that works out. I am feeling pretty optimistic. If I get gestational diabetes that will help me control everything. Silver lining?
Sleep: Ok actually. Switched sides of the bed and now sleep with the window closed so that those trains aren't as much of an issue.
Best Moment of the Week: Really paying attention to her kicking. I was asked to do some kick counts by my midwife because I wasn't always feeling her kick everyday, just about every other day. It's been fun to really pay attention to her movement. I have now seen her move underneath my skin and I can now feel her kicking by just lightly laying my hand on her. It really is the greatest thing. It's a feeling I have yet to get tired of.
Movement: See above.
Symptoms: I don't know if I have covered this one before but sneezing. If I had a nickel for every time someone has asked me if I have allergies or if I'm sick in the past 7 months..I'd be rich. I don't know why I sneeze so much I just do.
Food Cravings: Sugar. ha I blame Halloween and the isles of candy everywhere you go. I do my best not to indulge. Other than that...cottage cheese and pears. So good. I just can't get enough of them right now.
Gender: Hoping she's still a baby girl in there.
Belly Button - In or Out?: Stretched.
Anything making you queasy or sick?: This 3 hr glucose test sure did today. Not a fan.
Labor Signs: No. I did have some mild cramping last week that had me worried but it is gone now and everything seems to be going great. I guess it can be normal.
Wedding ring on or off: Off. I did try last week to put it on. Mistake. I could barely get that sucker off.
What I Miss: Sleeping on my back
What I am looking forward to: Meeting her. I have been having more dreams about her recently. I just can't wait to see what she looks like with her cute little baby toes and baby fingers. Our friends Jackie and Par came to visit on Saturday and I just couldn't get over how little Henrik's hands and fingernails were. So cute. He's such a cute little baby.
Nursery: Skip
Emotions: Lets just say more emotional. I cried yesterday listening to this EFY song. I know - so lame. Anyways it has to do with the white dresses a girl will where in her life and the first one is for her baby blessing. When I started to think about Derek blessing our little girl...i just lost it. He didn't really know what to do with me. ha
Stupid things I have done: Eat some delicious chocolate mousse from Kneaders the day before my glucose test. I was only over by 2 points. I blame it on that dessert. Ridiculous.

We had such a fun weekend and I look forward to posting about that in a couple of days. Hope you all had a great weekend.

  4. Yeah I've gained like 15 pounds...whoops! Even with all the throwing up. Also, I get cramps every once-in-a-while too and maybe you already know this but I found out that it is my uterus and stomach and such stretching, so it's really nothing to worry about. Of course, you know your body best so listen to it!
I am going to steal this thing for my blog, hope that's okay! I really want to keep track of the little things to look back on. :) Thanks for the idea!

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 ...

32 Weeks

32 weeks, 2 days here How Far Along: 32 weeks, 4 days Size of the Baby:  Almost 4 pounds and about 17 inches long Weight gain/loss: 3.6 pounds in the last month bringing me to 12.6 pounds total Sleep:  It's gotten worse. Oh well. At least the trains are the least of my worries now. Any sleep advice for the 3rd trimester? I'll take any I can get. I wake up with the worst back and abdomen pain and I have to rotate multiple times throughout the night since my hips, legs, arms, and hands all start going numb. ha I am ready to buy a recliner and sleep sitting up. It might work out better. Best Moment of the Week: My birthday and my baby shower. (More to come on these later) How could you not have an awesome week with those two things in the mix? Movement: Lots of rolling and jabbing. I feel like the past couple days she has been moving more constantly. I am loving it. Only two other people have felt her move besides her parents - Samantha and Jami...
