California Dreams

So I haven't had time to blog lately because life has been to hectic.  It needs to slow it's pace just a little.  Right now I am trying to get caught up on things at work and Derek is trying so hard to catch up on all his classes.  We got home late Tuesday night from our California vacation.  Yesterday we finally unpacked and bought food.  My poor husband was starving for real food.

We went to to California for my sister-in-law's wedding.  It was tons of fun but busy as well. I think I maybe averaged 5 hours of sleep a night.  Maybe that's a lot to you but I am used to 7.5 to 8 hours a night.  It all started as soon as we got off the plane on Wednesday night.  Shopping and preparing for the bachelorette party I would be co-hosting the very next day.  The party was a blast and deserves a post of it's own with pictures.  We'll have to wait until I get a hold of those from my other sister-in-law. Then there was decorating, rehearsal dinner, more shopping, the wedding, pictures, reception, clean up, breakfast, and gift opening.  It was a jam packed couple of days.

Here are some of the pictures I have from the wedding day.

The many faces of Derek.  Isn't my husband adorable?

The happy couple and Derek with his favorite ladies

I can't wait to tell you all about the girls night out party and the LA Country Fair.  I will love the LA County Fair forever simply because it helped a 5 year dream come true.  It's a great story, well, to me.  Stay tuned to see the exciting surprise.

It's a good reminder to not only seek Him this time of year but thr...

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 ...

Tot School: Week 1

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to some of my friends about starting some kind of regular class where we can get our kids together once a week to learn and play. As an added bonus, we all get to chat as well. That night I started researching different activities that are good for kids ages 18 months-3 years. I put together an 8 week schedule that will include different themes each week so that our children can be exposed to many different things. I couldn't wait to get started. I e-mailed my friends my ideas/schedule and once I knew who could participate I went shopping to pick up supplies. Everything I have needed so far I found at the Dollar Tree and Micheal's. Today was our first class and it was a lot of fun. Our theme this week was animals. As everyone arrived I let them pick out a folder and decorate it. I also took a picture with the kids and their moms. We started by reading a couple of animal books I had on hand. The kids loved them because they were flap books a...
