Derek's Birthday Present

So Derek's birthday is coming up and i am planning on getting him the iphone 4 if all works out according to plan. Anyways i also wanted to create something for him that was more personalized. So i took some of our favorite pictures from our trips this summer and put them together in this collage. I made them look like Polaroids and then was able to put titles on it and i am really happy with the way it turned out. I originally made it as a 5x7 but changed it to an 8x10 so everything can be seen better. I printed it off on photo paper and i will be buying a frame for it shortly. I hope he loves it.

In other news life is great. I applied for a job at wells fargo to be a personal banker. After a couple interviews i got offered the job with benefits after 30 days and a starting wage of $35,000 a year but it just didn't feel right to take it. I still have time to decide...mabye i'll change my mind but not likely. So i am still working at American Eagle and will be being interviewed next week for a key holder position. They do everything a manager does but it's like a trial stage to see if you can be promoted to manager. That's ok with me if i never do. I don't plan on working there after derek and i find out where we will be going for his education. I want to do something in the field i love but you never know. For right now this opportunity has presented itself and i feel good about pursuing it.

That's that. There's been a lot more things happening like a trip to san deigo, disneyland, newport beach, and santa monica but i'll update later and post some pictures with it.

Big News!

So this is big news for the Power family. I know many of you know a million other people who are currently pregnant but before you roll your eyes and skip over this post completely (ha), read on and hear a little bit about our story. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. We just found out yesterday that we are expecting a baby girl. She is due to enter this world on January 3, 2012. So far she is healthy and growing strong. She is growing about a week ahead of schedule. Maybe she'll come early...like before the end of the year. Derek and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary on the 16th of January...so not too long after our sweet girl is born. A little about us: Derek: One of the things I love most about Derek is how patiently he accepts trials in his life. He always has such a good atitude about what life has handed him. When he was 11 or 12 he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then at age 19 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.  He has now been in remission for 5 ...

Tot School: Week 1

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to some of my friends about starting some kind of regular class where we can get our kids together once a week to learn and play. As an added bonus, we all get to chat as well. That night I started researching different activities that are good for kids ages 18 months-3 years. I put together an 8 week schedule that will include different themes each week so that our children can be exposed to many different things. I couldn't wait to get started. I e-mailed my friends my ideas/schedule and once I knew who could participate I went shopping to pick up supplies. Everything I have needed so far I found at the Dollar Tree and Micheal's. Today was our first class and it was a lot of fun. Our theme this week was animals. As everyone arrived I let them pick out a folder and decorate it.
