To get me feeling festive...

So with Halloween fast approaching I realize that I still don't have a costume for Brooklyn or for us. It'll be amazing if I can manage to put something together. It has been hard living in temporary living the past couple of months, especially this month. All I want to do is decorate for fall and Halloween, bake delicious goodies, and sit out on my back porch enjoying hot cocoa as the weather starts to get colder. We can't even buy any pumpkins cause we will be moving in to our home before Halloween. Hopefully we can still hit up a pumpkin patch and carve some pumpkins before the big day. So to get me in the Halloween spirit I did a couple of things. I bought a cute onesie for Brooklyn and designed something that I can't wait to print out and frame for my mantel once we move in to our very first home. So here is all I have done so far to be festive and it might just hold me off and little longer. It's her 1st Halloween so I had to! You can download t...

9 months

Time keeps on slipping into the future. But seriously, it does. Our little B is 9 months old today and is growing bigger and learning new things every day.  Brooklyn at 9 months: Got three teeth. She was a teething machine. She got all 4 top teeth in about 2 weeks. After she got her first two she would grind her teeth together.  Still eats and sucks on everything. We have moved in to an apartment temporarily. It is filled with stuff from the previous tenants and so I never know what's around. I always try to do a good baby proofing look but she finds everything. I have found that she chewed through the corner or a box, was chomping on a bead, chewing on drywall. You name it she has tried to put in in her mouth. She has an amazing eye for details. She's like her daddy that way. She can find the smallest things that no one would ever see and pick them up. Thread. Piece of carpet. Zip tie. It amazes me. She's able to use those long skinny fingers of her to grab the sma...

On Moving: Day 1

So it's been a while since I've updated and I really don't like that. I have used this as a place to record the adventures of my family and recently we've had a lot of adventures. I want to catch up on what we've been up to since our move. After going back and forth for a couple of weeks, Derek and I finally decided how we were going to take this giant move. We got a huge Penske truck (22 ft) and towed our car behind. Our goal in moving to Texas was to find a house and become first time home buyers. With that being the case we needed to look for somewhere temporary to stay. We decided to stay in the Extended Stay of America in Arlington because it was the best priced yet still so expensive. We thought we had everything figured out and off we went. Thanks to the help of my family and the movers we hired we were able to pack up the truck really quickly and still have room for Derek's broken scooter. He's not quite ready to say goodbye and is hoping to have t...

8 months already?

I seriously can't believe B is already 8 months old. This last month just flew by. With getting sick, moving, and trying to enjoy our last days in Utah, life was pretty busy. Brooklyn is such a happy and beautiful baby. She has done so well this last week after being in the car for three days and being dragged everywhere. She continue to impress me everyday. She's so smart and flexible. She is so happy and patient. I learn so much from her everyday. I learn more and more everyday why Christ teaches us to become like a child. I hope I teach her a thing or two during this process...ha  Here's what she's been up to: - Perfecting her army crawl. She's so much faster.  - Became a momma's girl. Ever since she had the flu she has been wanting to be held and paid attention to by me. I find it to be so sweet.  - Loves eating her solid foods. Her appetite has increased quite a bit. - She can get her belly up off the ground.  - Talking tons and tons. She just babbles all d...

B gets the flu

So I haven't written recently like I usually do but life is really busy right now and I am not quite sure when it'll slow down. We move NEXT WEEK to Texas where we will be staying in an Extended Stay hotel for a couple of months. During that time I will be house hunting like a mad woman so we can get out of that hotel as soon as possible. It'll be interesting to have Brooklyn in the same room as us again and I just pray it doesn't smell bad. We looked in to temporarily renting an apartment or staying at a Marriott but there were $3,000/month. That's ridiculous. It'll just keep us motivated to find a house, right? ha  So last week my poor girl got the flu. It was heart breaking. She hasn't been sick before so it was really hard. It reminded me a lot of her early days when she had acid reflux except this time it came with a slight fever, a lot more throwing up, and a worn out baby girl. It was so sad to just hold her and comfort her as she couldn't keep...
